Some Hadiths Subjected to Discussion by Supporters of Bishr al-Marīsī Due to Having an Anthropormorphist and Corporealist Content.Ali Kaya - 2018 - Cumhuriyet İlahiyat Dergisi 22 (1):163-188.
Hadiths that have been discussed in this paper consist of narrations regarding divine attributes and having some problematic meanings between supporters of Bişr al-Marīsī and ʿUthmān al-Dārimī. These narrations were mostly accepted denounced (munkar) by Bişr al-Marīsī and his sopporters due to having an anthropormophist and corporealist content about God. They rejected divine attributes according to their understanding of God based on incomparability (tanzīh) which provided by Mutazilite approach towards divine attributes even though they conveyed some features of Ahl al-Ra’y. Systematic literature review on audio-visual multimodal input in listening comprehension.Tan Shaojie, Arshad Abd Samad & Lilliati Ismail - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
The purpose of this study is to discuss the effects of audiovisual input on second language acquisition and the factors that influence the difficulty of audiovisual learning through a systematic literature review. Prior to this systematic review, in this paper, we searched papers on related topics for the past 10 years from 2012 to 2022, and found 46 journal papers that met the research criteria. They can basically represent the scholarly work in this field. The 46 studies were published in (...)

A Greater Intrinsic, but Not External, Motivation Toward Physical Activity Is Associated With a Lower Sitting Time.Samad Esmaeilzadeh, Josune Rodriquez-Negro & Arto J. Pesola - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
BackgroundBoth reducing sitting and increasing physical exercise promote health but exercising more does not necessarily reduce sitting time. One reason for this non-dependency may be that different aspects of exercise motivation are differently related to sitting time. Identifying the type of exercise motivation that would also be associated with sitting time can help to reduce sitting indirectly through increased exercise, thus bringing greater benefits.MethodsThe present study explored the association between quality of motivations toward physical activity with physical activity and sitting (...)

Application of Transcendental Bernstein Polynomials for Solving Two-Dimensional Fractional Optimal Control Problems.Fateme Ghomanjani, Samad Noeiaghdam & Sanda Micula - 2022 - Complexity 2022:1-10.
The aim of this study is to introduce a novel method to solve a class of two-dimensional fractional optimal control problems. Since there are some difficulties solving these problems using analytical methods, thus finding numerical methods to approximate their solution is a challenging topic. In this study, we use transcendental Bernstein series. In fact, for solving the problem, we generalize the Bernstein polynomials to a larger class of functions which can provide more accurate approximate solutions. The convergence theorem is proved. (...)

Work-life balance practices and organizational cynicism: The mediating role of person-job fit.Abdul Samad Kakar, Niel Kruger, Dilawar Khan Durrani, Muhammad Asif Khan & Natanya Meyer - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
This study aims to elaborate on how work-life balance practices influence organizational cynicism through the mediation effects of person-job fit. We collected data from 331 nurses through a self-administered survey, and we tested our hypothesized model through partial least square structural equation modeling techniques using SmartPLS software. The findings revealed that WLB practices influenced OC negatively and PJF positively. We further found that PJF negatively influenced OC and mediated WLB practices’ effect on OC. These findings imply that nurses should be (...)

Gender, Veiling, and Class: Symbolic Boundaries and Veiling in Bengali Muslim Families.M. D. Abdus Sabur - 2022 - Gender and Society 36 (3):397-421.
In Bangladesh, due to economic growth and greater access to education, more girls and women are veiling, even as they are also more likely to be in school or employed. Some scholars identify this trend of women appearing both “more modern” and “more religious” as paradoxical. On the basis of 114 in-depth interviews with Bangladeshi migrant workers in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Singapore, and South Korea and their wives in rural Bangladesh, I claim that Muslim women in middle-class Bengali families who (...)

    Is Greed Good?: An Interpretation of Plato’s Hipparchus.Joy Samad - 2010 - Polis 27 (1):25-37.
The Hipparchus features a conversation between Socrates and an un-named companion, at an unknown time and place, about gain and whether we should in any way limit our pursuit of gain. Socrates argues intransigently that we should not place any limits on our pursuit of gain, while the companion, despite being unable to counter his arguments, is equally firm in his rejection of Socrates’ moral position. The dialogue thus shows the strength of the conviction, in the souls of decent people, (...)

Socrates’ Pragma and Socrates’ Toughness: On the Proper Translation of Apology 30B 2–4.Joy Samad - 2011 - Polis 28 (2):250-266.
The translation of Apology 30b 2–4 has long been controversial. The standard translation of this sentence reveals a Socrates who wants to highlight a problem about virtue by making an extremely optimistic statement about it; the alternative translation supported by Myles Burnyeat and Christopher Rowe would suppress the problem by appearing to resolve it. A detailed examination of Socrates’ speech at 28b–31c, defending the nobility of his Delphic activity, finds fault with the resolution proposed by Burnyeat and Rowe, shows how (...)

Moral distress (MD) has received considerable attention in the nursing literature over the past few decades. It has been found that high levels of MD can negatively impact nurses, patients, and their family and reduce the quality of patient care. This study aimed to investigate the potentially effective interventions to alleviate MD in critical care nurses. In this systematic review, a broad search of the literature was conducted in the international databases including PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Scopus, as well (...)

Arguing against Political and Religious Discriminations: Critical Discourse Analysis of Indonesian Ahmadiyya.Andi Syurganda, Afifuddin Afifuddin, Iskandar Iskandar, Sahril Nur, Iskandar Abdul Samad & Andi Muhammad Irawan - 2022 - Muslim World Journal of Human Rights 19 (1):53-76.
This article examines resistance discourses created and disseminated by a religious minority in Indonesia called Gerakan Ahmadiyah Indonesia (GAI) to counter any negative portrayals and religious-based discriminations. Ahmadiyah is a self-defined sect of Islam that has been the target of physical attacks and discursive discrimination in Indonesia. This analysis focuses on identifying discourse topics raised and strategies employed by one of the Ahmadiyya groups in the country called GAI to reveal their resistance and defend their ‘Islamic’ faith. Various texts produced (...)

An adopted questionnaire from several published studies was used to collect data. The data were collected from 410 respondents and were analyzed with SmartPLS. The results for the direct impact showed that self-attribution, illusion of control, and information availability have a positive and significant impact on herding for Islamic financial products while shariah literacy showed an insignificant impact on (...)

Structure of Symbol within Cultural Transitions.Din Aslamazishvili - 2008 - Proceedings of the Xxii World Congress of Philosophy 12:3-7.
Among such social-philosophic notions as society, culture, civilization, system, human, sense, sign, truth and others, concept “symbol” takes a special place. Most of the researchers meet the view, that symbol possesses an important place in the development of culture as a social phenomenon. The role of symbol in cultures birth and development is characterized by antipathy and polysemy. However revelation of the symbol role in spiritual processes of cultural transitions is beyond question one of the urgent philosophic issues. Symbol is (...)
